Duplex Stainless Steel Wire Mesh

Duplex and Super Duplex Stainless Steel Wire Mesh(2205 & 2507)

Duplex stainless steel wire mesh is made from a blend of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels. This type of woven wire mesh, though less commonly used than 304 and 316 stainless steel mesh, provides superior corrosion resistance and double the yield strength. Additionally, it remains magnetic in all conditions.

2205 Duplex Stainless Steel

  • Composition: 22% Chromium, 5-6% Nickel, 3% Molybdenum.
  • Properties: Combination of good mechanical properties and excellent corrosion resistance, particularly against stress corrosion cracking.
  • Applications: Oil and gas industry, marine environments, chemical processing.

2507 Super Duplex Stainless Steel

  • Composition: 25% Chromium, 7% Nickel, 4% Molybdenum.
  • Properties: Superior corrosion resistance, especially in chloride environments, high strength.
  • Applications: Offshore oil and gas platforms, chemical processing, and desalination plants.

Features

  • Superior Corrosion Resistance: Duplex wire mesh demonstrates outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion, outperforming conventional stainless steels.
  • Increased Strength: The mesh provides significantly higher yield and tensile strength than either austenitic or ferritic stainless steels.
  • Exceptional Durability: It maintains excellent toughness and durability, even in challenging environments.
  • Enhanced Thermal Conductivity: Duplex mesh offers better thermal conductivity compared to austenitic stainless steels, making it ideal for heat exchanger applications.
  • Versatile Weldability and Formability: The mesh is known for its good weldability and formability, supporting a wide range of fabrication processes.

Applications

  • Oil and Gas Industry: Due to its high resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, duplex mesh is ideal for offshore platforms, pipelines, and processing facilities.
  • Chemical Processing: In environments exposed to corrosive substances, such as chemical plants, duplex mesh proves to be an excellent choice.
  • Marine Environment: With its superior resistance to seawater corrosion, duplex mesh is perfect for marine applications, including shipbuilding and coastal structures.
  • Pulp and Paper Industry: It is used in bleaching equipment and other applications that require resistance to corrosive chemicals.
  • Desalination Plants: Its durability and resistance to saline environments make duplex mesh suitable for use in desalination plant construction.

Specifications

  • Wire Diameter: Typically ranges from 0.025 mm to 1.6 mm, depending on the mesh size and specific application.
  • Mesh Size: Offers a wide range of configurations, from 2 mesh to 400 mesh.
  • Standard Grades: Commonly used grades include 2205 (UNS S31803/S32205) and 2507 (UNS S32750).
